Big Almaty Lake

Big Almaty Lake

Lakes

A turquoise reservoir at 2,500 metres. Cars cannot reach it at the moment, so the last stretch is ridden on an electric bike or a quad — which turns the approach into the best part of the day.

Overview

The colour changes with the season and the hour: milky blue in spring, deep turquoise in late summer, ice green in winter. We drive you up through the spruce forest to the start of the closed road, where your guide arranges the hire. Most guests take an electric bike — two hours to the water and back, stopping wherever the view is worth it. Quads are there too for anyone who would rather ride than pedal. Your guide waits at the bottom. Quiet, high, and unlike any other day near the city.
